This is a small group birding tour visiting Northern Sulawesi and the island of Halmahera. With a number of spectacular and colourful birds in Sulawesi there will be some excellent photographic opportunities both there and on Halmahera where can be found the only Birds of Paradise outside of Australasia.
This tour is of a moderate level of difficulty. While the walking is not excessive there will be a fair amount of it. The trails vary from easy level strolls to moderate climbs. Trails can be uneven and may be quite muddy depending on recent weather. Travel will largely be by minibus and the weather will be hot and humid.
Manado and Tomohon have good western style hotels,. Tangkoko is clean but very basic wooden chalets with only cold showers. Accommodation on Halmahera is in an eco friendly dive resort.
